WHAT A GREAT WINTER- SPRING SHOULD BE AWESOME!!

What a great winter it has been! Remember last year? The start of 2006 came with a Biblical amount of rain. I remember a couple of days up in Yreka where it rained 11 inches. That's a tremendous amount of water! All rivers in Nor Cal where wiped out due to the rain. The fishing finally started look up in June of 2006. This year it's been a totally different story. The fishing has been awesome. Best steelhead fishing on the Trinity ever! Folks, I have to tell you that if you experienced one of those many 20+ steelhead days we had on the Trinity this year....remember it because that's not what steelhead fishing is all about! A successful day of steelhead fishing is basically landing one fish. 3-6 is common on the Trinity, but 20 or more is a dream come true and dreams came true from November all the way through February. So, when we go fishing next November, rejoice if we get 20 but don't expect that many. Let's start with one and go from there. On a side note, the Klamath fished great this February. Big fish! I saw a few that went over 10lbs. That's a great big fish for the Klamath.

Now it's the end of February and my calendar for March is 100% booked. The fishing on the Lower Sac has been good. I have already had a couple of days where the Caddis came off pretty thick. It's going to be an incredible March! Spring fishing is going to be the best we have seen in a couple years barring any extreme weather. I am really looking forward to fishing on Fall River. The month of May should be great this year. May on Fall is incredible for numbers of fish, great hatches and dry fly fishing! Which reminds me, I have got to get my Fall River boat in for a check up.....tune up the Mercury for the spring and summer season.

Today, it's snowing in Redding. We're not out of the woods yet, but birds are starting to show up and trees are blooming so winter is just about over. On a side note; Went to the Fly Fishing Show in Pleasanton, CA. over the weekend. Saw a lot of folks that have fished with me in the past and many more that are fishing with me in the future. Shook hands with a lot of industry people I knew, but never met. Talked with old friends and colleges. I had a great time. It was nice to be indoors for a few days actually. Now I have only a couple of days left to relax before I hit the river again for the entire month of March. If your on my calendar...I am looking forward to fishing with you and you all now who you are since most are regular repeat guests. Thank you for your continued interest!!! I sincerely appreciate it and as always- value your patronage!!

See you on the water! - Chris
