Plain and simple. A doppelganger is basically just your body double. Not the sort of body double in a movie that does your stunts for you (unless you have an agreement like that with them), but they're the person that could easily step in and be you because they look EXACTLY like you but they're nothing more than a stranger to you. It is said that with the amount of people on earth, that each person is likely to have 7 doppelgangers in the world. 7. Can you believe that!? 7 people in the world look nearly identical to you; Or me; Or him. You get the point.
There have been many reported stories of people finding their identical twins in the world, and some even found two and three of them! Oh how I wish that I could find at least one of mine, as I'm sure that many of you out there do as well. There are plenty of apps and websites that claim to help with this sort of "search", and they may have been successful for some, but I had no such luck.
You could try them if you'd like. There is Twin Strangers , which helped Sara is from Sweden and Shannon is from Ireland (1) find each other. And also Niamh Geaney from Dublin, Ireland, met Karen Branigan (2) who live about an hour apart!
Its amazing if you ask me! but I didn't seem to have such luck.
Another sight that actively helps people find their match is Find My Doppelganger. The good aspect of this site is that it will actively be comparing you to many other profiles on the site. In my experience, it seems to randomly pair you with profiles, not necessarily ones that actually look similar to you. So you may not see the best results that you're looking for. But if you're really bored, this may be a way to just start clicking through some faces with hopes of some sort of miracle. And who knows! You may help someone else with the same passion as you to find at least one of their duplicates.
What I have found to be most helpful in my search is the simple Google Images search. When you search by a uploading a photo, it brings up a "Virtually Similar" click-able search. This enables you to search through images throughout the Internet that seem to be similar to the one you've uploaded. This may also throw you for a loop depending on the sort of photo that you upload. I'm not sure of some of the aspects that it refers to to indicate such a "similarity". But still my search continues.
Lastly, I took a look at ilooklikeyou. With this website, you actually have to create a profile that can be linked to an email. They'll inform you when you've reached some sort of match, but I haven't given it enough time to really receive any matches as of yet. (I'll keep you posted on that one!)
It may be something that I'll be working on for a long time, but I think that the find would be worth the effort! Not only would it be fascinating to learn about someone else who looks identical to you, but you will get to develop a whole new friendship along the way! In some cases, their mate was on the other side of the world, which exposed them to a whole new culture and society that they may not have even knew exists!! That is what I strive for!
Now I challenge you! Find yourself and make a friend a long the way!
